The old Rectory of Santa Cilia has been converted into a hostal for pilgrims on the Somport route as the village is right on the Santiago Pilgrimage Way. The building, made of wood and stone is of typical vernacular style and is in the centre of the village.
The attic space has been converted into an unique Visitors’ Centre, the theme of which (principally decorative) is to appeal to the visitor or pilgrim’s more reflexive side. The room is therefore divided into themed areas which seek interaction with the pilgrim.
In the Labyrinth Corner the pilgrim is invited to use some coloured ribbons to weave together the motives that have caused him to undertake the pilgrimage, while suggesting at the same time a symbol of what causes human beings to flee from motionlessness.
The Game of Goose Corner explains the relationship between this game and the “Camino”, inviting reflection on our passage through life, full of positive experiences as well as difficulties.
The Symbols Corner proposes reflection on the importance of the objects and symbols in our relationship with our surroundings, especially those which are emblematic for pilgrims, such as the scallop, the gourd and the staff.
And finally the Mandala Corner invites the pilgrim to join in a collective mandala, symbol of the unity of being and the connection between the cycles of Nature and the internal cycles of human beings.
